Spark of Inspiration

This past Sunday and Monday, I had the opportunity to spend time with the soloist I am collaborating with on an upcoming guest conducting gig with the orchestra. Those moments are unique because multiple people are coming together to create a beautiful product for an audience to enjoy.

There was a ton of excitement, a higher sense of music-making, and sheer inner terror (for me, at least) to make sure that we could get through the entire piece with minimal distractions. That rehearsal helped rejuvenate my desire to be a conductor. From a broader perspective, it helped inspire the inner musician and reminded me why I want to dedicate my life to making music. At times, it gets hard to see/remember the purpose of why we do what we do as we are in the daily grind of life, but it is refreshing to get those reminders at the times you least expect them.

Whatever you do in life, be open to receiving those sparks of joy toward your purpose when you least expect them. Whatever that spark is, live in that moment. Appreciate that moment. Store that moment.

I am writing this for myself.
